Amtrak Capitol CorridorRegional Rail Plan WorkshopsTime/date: August 15 - 27, 2007 Source: MTC Track the Bay Area’s rail future at a public meeting on the Draft Regional Rail PlanAfter 18 months of analysis and stakeholder involvement, a draft regional rail plan for expanding the region’s network of rail lines has been completed.
The Draft Regional Rail Plan was made to identify potential rail passenger and rail freight improvements for the near-, intermediate-, and long-term and the economics of different scenarios. Supporting AmtrakBayRail Alliance is primarily about realizing the San Francisco Bay Area's full rail potential. The fate of Amtrak on the national level indirectly affects the ability of our vision to be realized, but is not our primary focus. We refer those who are concerned about federal funding for long-distance (non-high-speed rail) trains to organizations such as NARP and TRAC. Capitol Corridor: August 28, 2006August 28, 2006: Service expands to 32 weekday trains between Sacramento and Oakland, and 14 weekday & weekend trains to/from San Jose.
Capitol Corridor: September 2003September 2003: State enacts legislation to make the CCJPA a permanent entity by amending the Interagency Transfer Agreement with the State of California.
Capitol Corridor: April 2003April 2003: Service expands to 24 weekday trains (8 weekday trains to San Jose); 18 weekend (12 trains to San Jose on weekends and holidays). These previous 3 expansions were accomplished with one additional trainset and with no increase in budget by reallocating funds from discontinued motorcoach routes.
