Dumbarton RailRegional Rail Plan WorkshopsTime/date: August 15 - 27, 2007 Source: MTC Track the Bay Area’s rail future at a public meeting on the Draft Regional Rail PlanAfter 18 months of analysis and stakeholder involvement, a draft regional rail plan for expanding the region’s network of rail lines has been completed.
The Draft Regional Rail Plan was made to identify potential rail passenger and rail freight improvements for the near-, intermediate-, and long-term and the economics of different scenarios. Time/date: Our guest speakers for this meeting include Steve Minden and other Caltrain staff who will inform us of some of the hurdles the Dumbarton rail project is facing, and about phasing options being contemplated for this project. Location: 2001- Dumbarton2001 — BayRail's lobbying efforts help lead to Caltrain agreeing to be the Dumbarton Rail operator. Caltrain agrees on the condition that it would not be required to fund any of the expenses of operating the Dumbarton service.
1991 - Prop 1161991 — PR2000 (later known as BayRail Alliance) successfully fights California Transportation Commission to release Prop. 116 funds for right-of-way purchase from SP. Purchase later includes Dumbarton line, and trackage rights to Gilroy. CTC releases funds on condition that train service increase to 60 trains per weekday and a stronger local agency is created to run the service.
