Interagency Agreements

Caltrain, SamTrans, VTA, and San Francisco Muni

A 2-zone or longer Caltrain monthly pass will get you a free ride on local SamTrans and VTA buses and light rail, and discount fares on express buses.

Caltrain monthly pass holders can also purchase a discounted San Francisco Muni Fast Pass.

See Caltrain’s Inter-Agency Transfers page for more details.

Amtrak Capitol Corridor and connecting transit

While riding the Amtrak Capitol Corridor, you can obtain a transit transfer  good for two free rides on connecting buses within a day of your trip.

You can also buy BART tickets at a 20% discount from the cafe car when it's open.

The Capitol Corridor has a joint ticketing arrangement with Roseville Transit and the Placer Commuter Express buses.

BART

You can buy BART tickets at a 20% discount when riding the Capitol Corridor, from the cafe car.

BART has a special ticket called “BART Plus” that is good on BART and local rides on County Connection, Dumbarton Express, SamTrans, Santa Clara County VTA, SF Muni, Tri Delta Transit, Union City Transit, West CAT and WHEELS. It's a good value if you ride almost daily.

There is also something called a “BART-to-bus transfer” that you can obtain from a machine at some BART stations before you exit the station, which will give you varying levels of discounts on connecting bus transit.
